The Chainsmokers, consisting of Alex Pall and Drew Taggart, are coming back to Manila. Known noticed that the word “selfie” was becoming a common term, and they wanted to take advantage of this. They composed a song demo featuring a monologue of a female club patron about taking selfies.

Their inspiration would come from regularly attending clubs in New York City and noticing the habits of the women there. While they were composing the song, they knew that had to somehow use the line “let me take a selfie”. Thus, their smash hit single “#Selfie” was born. Its fusion of self-obsessed vocal samples and bouncy beats resonated widely, and the song rose to number 55 on Billboard’s Hot 100 singles chart and to number seven on the magazine’s Dance/Mix Show Airplay chart. In the meantime, the video for “#Selfie” included cameos from David Hasselhoff and Snoop Dogg, which fueled the viral appeal of the track. In 2015, the Chainsmokers released an EP titled Bouquet, a more indie-inflected and softer set led by the “Roses” single. The Chainsmokers will deliver one of the best shows in the EDM scene today so get your tickets as soon as they become available at SM Tickets

About Febbe

I was born in Toledo City but moved to Lapu-Lapu City at a very young age. Grew up, attended school and now, still lives there. She loves movies and saw a little too many. She also watches a lot of crappy tv shows. For some reason, she thinks its relevant to mention that. She played damath and chess on her primary school years. She won games and was sent to other schools to compete. This has turned out to be completely and utterly useless. Now, she's writing about herself in the 3rd person. What's up with that?! LoL! Peace out!
