Flipped: a movie review

Ah first love. Everyone has their first love. It is inevitable that everyone has their own story of their first love, various kinds. It has different endings, could end happily ever after or disappears with time. It could be love at first sight or love that grows by always getting used to be together. However, it all sure has a beautiful scenario in it. Beautiful since it is felt for the first time in one’s life. This is why it is called first love in the first place.

When second–graders Bryce and Juli first meet, Juli knows it's love. But Bryce isn't so sure. Girl–phobic and easily embarrassed, young Bryce does everything he can to keep his outspoken wannabe girlfriend at arm's length for the next six years, which isn't easy since they go to the same school and live across the street from each other. But if Juli finally looks away, will it be Bryce's turn to be dazzled? "Flipped" takes Bryce and Juli from Grade School to Junior High, through triumph and disaster, family drama and first love, as they make the discoveries that will define who they are – and who they are to each other.

I love the feel of this movie. It's nostalgic. In the novel, the story is set in the early 2000s. The movie shows it set in the early 1960s. when I saw it, I liked it for one pivotal reason: the incredibly charming leads. The boy plays his part well and serves his purpose; but it's the girl's character (played by Madeline Carroll) who I practically fell in love with. When she was happy, I was happy. When she was sad, I was sad. When a movie can do this to me, despite everything else, it's worth a watch.

About Febbe

I was born in Toledo City but moved to Lapu-Lapu City at a very young age. Grew up, attended school and now, still lives there. She loves movies and saw a little too many. She also watches a lot of crappy tv shows. For some reason, she thinks its relevant to mention that. She played damath and chess on her primary school years. She won games and was sent to other schools to compete. This has turned out to be completely and utterly useless. Now, she's writing about herself in the 3rd person. What's up with that?! LoL! Peace out!
